Tomato and Basil Pizza Burgers

These burgers from Morningstar farms are available in the freezer section of your local grocery stores. This Pizza Burger is full of delicious pizza flavor, and it's covered up by delicious cheese, tomato and Italian spices making it hard to resist. Nutritionally, this is excellent. Not much sodium, only 130 calories and 11 g of protein. You can also get 3 g of dietary fiber from this. Its costs $4-$5 for a 9.5oz packet of 4 frozen patties. Its a little pricey but given the wonderful taste and nutrition of this product, I think it's a good buy.

Warming Instructions: You can follow the directions on the packet but I usually microwave 1 patty for 45 seconds and then toast it in the toaster oven for 2 -3 minutes. So what I basically do is thaw it in the microwave and toast it for crispness in the toaster oven. The result is excellent and much faster than the 10-15 minutes required in the conventional oven.

1 burger bun

1 tablespoon mayo (optional)

2 leaves of lettuce

1/4 onion

4 olives

Mustard (optional)

  1. Warm the patty as explained above or follow the instructions on the packet.
  2. Cut the onion in thin slices.
  3. Cut the olives vertically or horizontally
  4. Wash the lettuce and keep aside
  5. Slightly toast the 2 sides of the burger buns in the toaster.
  6. Apply the mayo and mustard on one of the side of the bun
  7. Put the lettuce, onion and olives on it
  8. Place the heated patty on lettuce and onions and cover with teh other side of the bun.
  9. Enjoy as is or with ketchup
